Casey K. Mace began his assignment as the Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) at the Embassy of the United States to the Republic of Singapore in July 2022. In January 2025, he assumed the role of Chargé d’Affaires. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Mr. Mace has worked for the U.S. Department of State for over 23 years, primarily focused on U.S. relations in the Indo-Pacific.
Mr. Mace last worked on U.S.-Singapore relations at the White House in 2017, where he served on the National Security Council staff as the principal Southeast Asia advisor to President Trump. In that role, he prepared the President for his bilateral engagements with Southeast Asian leaders, including President Trump’s first meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc. Immediately prior to his arrival in Singapore, Mr. Mace served as the Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. at the U.S. Embassy in Luxembourg from 2019-2022. Earlier in his career, Mr. Mace served as the Deputy Political Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Political Unit Chief in the State Department’s China office, and the Deputy Secretary of State’s Special Assistant for East Asian and Pacific Affairs. Mr. Mace has also served at the American Consulates in Sydney and Guangzhou.
Before joining the State Department, Mr. Mace worked for a consultancy in the Space and Telecom industries. Mr. Mace earned a bachelors degree from Georgetown University, and he has studied Bahasa Indonesia and Mandarin Chinese for his career. He and his wife, Anne, have four children..
Michael Burnett currently serves as the Regional Export Control Officer and First Secretary for Commercial Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. In this capacity he is a subject matter expert on U.S. strategic trade controls and non proliferation issues for Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Michael has previously held several senior positions to include Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism and Transnational Threat son the National Security Council at the White House.
Additionally, Michael was the first Department of Commerce representative for critical technology protection at the Pentagon as well as the first Commerce Task Force member on the FBI’s National Cyber Investigative Joint Task Force(NCIJTF). He has served in numerous domestic and foreign investigative assignments with the Departments of State, Homeland Security and Commerce.
He is a graduate of California State University Sacramento and the National Intelligence University.
James Sullivan is Head of APAC Equity Research, and has held hedge fund management and research roles in Asia since 1998, prior to which he held strategy roles at IBM. He holds an MA in International Relations from Harvard University, an MBA from Duke University, and a BA in Political Science from Marist College. James has / has held fellowships at King's College London, Pacific Forum, the Asia Pacific Center for Security Studies, and is publishing a book with the Irregular Warfare Center.
