Trade is increasingly shaped by pluralistic governance—spanning national regulations, regional blocs, private standards, and international norms. Misalignment across these domains can stall negotiations, fragment supply chains, and create unintended consequences for compliance, innovation, and development.
At the same time, new trade challenges—ranging from digital regulation and green transition to labour standards and data flows—require inclusive, multi-stakeholder solutions. Failure to build consensus not only weakens the legitimacy of trade systems but fuels protectionism, distrust, and legal disputes.
Stakeholder engagement is no longer reactive. It must be strategic, sustained, and rooted in mutual understanding.

Our Contribution
The Centre for Trade Excellence works to elevate the quality, effectiveness, and impact of stakeholder engagement in trade governance and policy implementation. We help create platforms for dialogue, tools for structured negotiation, and communities of trust that enable meaningful collaboration.
Our work includes:
-
Convening multi-stakeholder forums that bring together governments, private sector actors, international bodies, and academia
We view negotiation not as a zero-sum exercise—but as a process of building shared value, durable outcomes, and lasting partnerships.
